Our Mission
As part of our Quaker witness, we are
committed to support Friends in their efforts to:

Raise awareness about state-sponsored
torture and cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment;

Totally abolish such practices; and
-
Assist all those damaged by such
practices.
We

which provided conference seed money.

The Brown Fund of New
England Yearly Meeting for supporting our work with a grant
in 2007.

The many Friends and
others who created a flood of response to the call for a conference on torture. Many ideas have been shared. It became clear that a large historic work, similar to early Quaker work in prison reform, abolition, and women’s suffrage, is at hand. Our planning will be for a long-term work, perhaps of more than one generation. It’s also clear that such large and difficult work is good for our spiritual muscles, individually and corporately.
